Overview
We are seeking a Syngas Expert to join our Research & Development Center (R&DC).
R&DC conducts strategic research, development and demonstration programs in support of Aramco’s drive for innovation. We are currently pursuing several technology development opportunities in strategic and downstream research.
Your primary role is to support its hydrogen and sustainability programs. This newly created position will have overall responsibility in bringing the reforming technologies for synthesis gas production from pilot demonstration to pre-commercial scales.
Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
- Conduct pre-feasibility and full feasibility studies of reforming processes (steam reforming, gasification, partial oxidation) for hydrogen and hydrogen carrier production.
- Lead research team development activities with suitable collaborators and partners.
- Provide hands-on assistance with the commissioning, operation and maintenance of pilot demonstration and pre-commercial oil-based fuel reforming units.
- Liaise with production and facility planning personnel to ensure that oil-based reforming technology can be deployed in various Aramco assets within the scope of downstream and strategic R&D activities.
- Train junior engineers, while keeping abreast with the engineering and scientific developments of oil-based fuel reforming technologies.
Minimum Requirements
- You must hold a PhD in Chemical Engineering with specialization in hydrocarbon reforming.
- You should have at least 10 years of professional experience, preferably in a design or operational role related to hydrocarbon-based hydrogen production technologies.
- You must be conversant with various reforming technologies, for example catalytic partial oxidation, autothermal reforming, and steam reforming, as well as emerging concepts relevant to synthesis gas and hydrogen production.
