ROLE OVERVIEW

Senior Design Manager will be responsible for leading the design team and the design process for large-scale building projects (various asset types). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in architecture or engineering, with extensive experience in managing design processes for major construction projects. The Senior Design Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the project’s success by overseeing all design-related activities, from conceptualization through to completion, ensuring they meet quality standards, budget, and schedule.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and manage the design team, including architects, engineers, and other design professionals, to achieve project goals.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and consultants, to ensure the design meets all requirements and expectations.
• Oversee the development and implementation of design strategies, ensuring they align with project objectives, budget, and timeline.
• Ensure all design work complies with regulatory and environmental standards and guidelines.
• Manage the design process, from initial concept to final approval, ensuring milestones are met and deliverables are of high quality.
• Facilitate communication between the design team and other project teams to ensure a cohesive and efficient project progression.
• Review and approve design documents, drawings, and specifications, ensuring they are accurate and meet project standards.
• Identify and mitigate design-related risks and challenges, implementing solutions to prevent project delays or budget overruns.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in design and construction management.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

• 10+ years of experience in design management, with a proven track record of success in leading design teams for large-scale building projects.
• Knowledge and previous experience in KSA and Middle East.
• Strong knowledge of design principles, construction methods, and project management processes.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Proficient in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, BIM) and project management tools.
• Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and sustainability practices.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Has a strong technical experience in:
• Design and specification, construction, and commissioning.
• Sustainability design.
• Safety in design.
• Environment requirements.
• Permitting process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Master’s degree in similar field would be considered preferable
