ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Secondary College Counsellor to guide students through their academic journey, career planning, and college application process. The successful candidate will support students in making informed decisions about higher education opportunities and career paths while fostering their personal growth and well-being. This role requires a compassionate, organized, and proactive individual who is passionate about student success and development.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a student-centered approach.
  • Knowledge of international college admissions processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience using student management systems and online college planning tools.

 

 

ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES

The responsibilities of the College Counsellor will include, but not be limited to:

 

  • Provide individualized academic and career counseling to students in preparation for college admissions and post-secondary plans.
  • Guide students through the college selection and application process.
  • Develop and deliver workshops, seminars, and resources on college readiness, SAT/ACT prep, scholarship opportunities, and application strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school leaders to support students’ academic and personal goals.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of college admissions trends internationally, associated application requirements, and scholarship programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with college admissions representatives and organize college fairs or campus visits.
  • Track and report student progress and outcomes related to college and career planning.
  • Provide emotional and social support to students as needed, referring to external resources when appropriate.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Familiarity with standardized testing processes.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in academic or college counselling, preferably within an international context.

 

Qualifications

  • Relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree.
  • Relevant Professional Memberships/Accreditation.
