Description

Join AWS Public Policy team to drive cloud adoption among enterprises, public sector, and regulated industries (financial services, healthcare) in Saudi Arabia. We seek a government affairs professional with technology policy expertise to advance AWS as the Kingdom’s leading cloud platform provider.
AWS is the world’s leading cloud computing provider, offering IT infrastructure including compute, storage, content delivery, and database services.
We need an innovative representative to engage Saudi policymakers, build relationships with key decision-makers and government executives, and prioritize policy issues affecting AWS customers. You’ll address policy risks, advance strategic opportunities, and support AWS participation in critical business associations while interfacing directly with regional business units.

Key job responsibilities
This Riyadh-based position, part of the Amazon EMEA Public Policy team, will:

– Develop and implement Saudi Arabia government affairs advocacy objectives and policy priorities for AWS
– Represent AWS policy positions to government and local authorities, enabling transparent, innovation-friendly regulation for customer growth
– Align business priorities, public policy goals, and go-to-market strategies across AWS business units
– Assess regulatory issues and market opportunities, develop mitigation strategies, and coordinate advocacy efforts aligned with AWS objectives
– Facilitate high-level meetings between AWS executives and senior government officials, regulators, and industry partners
– Manage corporate memberships in industry associations and oversee external consultants
– The ideal candidate is inquisitive, technology-enthusiastic, thrives on challenges, and demonstrates sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
– Frequent travel within Saudi Arabia and the Middle East required.

Basic Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, Economic Development)
– Speak, write, and read fluently in Arabic
– Speak, write, and read fluently in English
– Proven experience representing large organizations on policy advocacy and government affairs with national and local policymakers

Preferred Qualifications

– Deep understanding of national, provincial, and local political landscapes, with ability to analyze legislative and regulatory trends impacting AWS businesses
– Strong knowledge of IT policy issues including cloud computing, AI, cybersecurity, data protection, trade, taxation, and e-commerce
– Excellent communication skills with demonstrated experience engaging government ministries and agencies across ICT, financial services, health, and energy sectors
– Technology-focused with sound judgment in ambiguous situations
– Strong research and analytical capabilities to develop policy positions
– Effective time management across multiple concurrent workstreams
