Overview
We are seeking a Plant Corrosion Engineer to join the North Ghawar Gas Producing Department.
North Ghawar Gas Producing Department provides support for Gas Producing as well as Gas Compression Operations with specialized engineering and technical knowledge in the areas of Corrosion Management and Inspection disciplines to maximize profitability and meet the highest standards of safety and environment.
As a Plant Corrosion Engineer you will be responsible for the design and implementation of corrosion management programs within the department, which includes: material & coating selection.
Key Responsibilities
As a successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
- Implement and maintain corrosion mitigation plans for the operating pipelines through chemical treatment (corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors, biocides, oxygen scavenger etc.), coating, cathodic protection (CP) and material selection.
- Conduct corrosion mitigation and integrity review to optimize the inspection and corrosion programs to maintain the integrity.
- Perform failure investigation and provide recommendations to prevent failures and improve integrity of the field piping and pipelines.
- Develop, maintain and optimize On-Stream Inspection (OSI) programs for the field piping.
- Support facility improvements by reviewing design packages to maintain potential and new projects.
- Provide comments related to corrosion monitoring, corrosion mitigation plans including but not limited to material selection, installation of Corrosion Monitoring systems (CMS), Chemical Treatments, Corrosion Risk Management, OSI etc.
- Support inspection during plant shutdown and during turnaround and inspection (T&I) for evaluation of internal and external corrosion issues and coating assessments.
- Provide scope of work for inspection activities related to corrosion monitoring of pressure equipment such as: On-Stream Inspection (OSI) program, dead leg program, IOW, KPI’s etc.
- Prepare budget for corrosion related inspections.
- Conduct integrity assessment and recommend corrective actions.
Minimum Requirements
As a successful candidate you will hold a:
- Bachelor’s degree in materials, metallurgical, chemical, mechanical, corrosion engineering from an accredited university. MSc in corrosion engineering is a plus.
- Hold NACE Pipeline Corrosion Integrity Management (PCIM) Technologist certification, NACE Internal Corrosion Technologist certification or NACE Senior Internal Corrosion Technologist certification, API 571, API 580, PEng License & NACE specialist certifications is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the oil & gas industry. At least 5 years’ experience in pipelines inspection, corrosion and integrity management including: Inline Inspection (ILI) data evaluation and direct assessment examination.
- Knowledge of internal and external corrosion mechanisms common to upstream oil and gas equipment and corresponding pipelines corrosion Integrity management.
- Knowledge of corrosion mitigation (coating selection, cathodic protection, chemical inhibition and material selection, scraping) & corrosion monitoring techniques (coupons, probes, on-stream inspection, in-line inspection, etc.).
- Familiarity with government regulations and industry codes and standards (NACE, API, ASME, etc.).
