Overview
We are seeking a NGL (Natural Gas Liquids) Operations Process Engineer to join our Juaymah NGL Fractionation Department within the Operation Engineering Unit (OEU).
OEU’s main function is to optimize Juaymah NGL’s plant performance. We act as a single point of contact for any plant related issues, support operations during T&I and unplanned shutdown activities. OEU also drive the performances of operating facilities in executing corporate programs and initiatives towards operational excellence and value creation.
Your primary role is to optimize the unit’s performance by leveraging advanced monitoring tools, including the Process Information (PI) system, Emergency Management Systems (EMS), Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), and process data analytics.
Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
- Regularly visit the control room to stay informed about current performance and identify potential issues by examining external operator checklists, alarms, emergency shutdown protocols, plant control parameters, and product quality metrics.
- Review shift handover notes, examine critical Distributed Control System (DCS) process displays, and discuss ongoing process challenges with supervisory personnel.
- Inspect plant conditions, assess equipment functionality, and verify optimal operation. Specific checks may include observing boiler flame patterns, verifying chemical pump settings, and evaluating general site cleanliness.
- Regularly survey high-priority equipment, such as heat exchangers and pumps, to detect signs of wear, malfunction, or impending breakdowns. Identify opportunities for improvement and propose targeted interventions to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
- Analyze economic losses resulting from suboptimal performance and develop actionable recommendations to address identified shortfalls. Present findings to immediate superiors and Operations Foremen on a daily basis, facilitating swift decision-making and implementation of corrective strategies.
- Through diligent observation, analytical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving, contribute to sustained enhancement of unit performance, minimizing waste, reducing costs, and maximizing profitability.
- Review standard process related work procedures, such as any new operating procedures, instructions, Joint Inspection manuals (JIMs), alarm and ESD checklist, Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and plant drawings.
- Support operations during Turnaround & Inspection and unplanned Shutdown & Startup by participating in equipment inspection, ordering catalyst and chemicals as required. Also, assist in unit’s shutdown and startup to ensure full compliance with engineering procedures.
- Validate the Multi-Variable Control (MVC) parameters with operations board men at the control room and utilize the MVC data to optimize the plant routine sample schedule.
Minimum Requirements
- You must hold a Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering.
- You should have a minimum of 12 years’ experience within refining /oil and gas plants /petrochemical industries.
- You should be able to demonstrate proficiency in the codes and standards in the oil and gas industry, i.e., API, ISO, ASME,
- You should have Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in the field of metering systems.
- Experience in process safety related activities like HAZOP, risk Assessment etc is preferred.
