ROLE OVERVIEW

Develop and implement engineering and operational standards related to Distribution Systems Operations (DSO) assets by understanding project and stakeholder need.

Assist delivery of technical services, within the DSO Operational Standards business area, to support the continual development of the NEOM network, its operation and the overall asset management strategies.

ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES

The Lead Engineer – DSO Standards’ responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Develop and Manage

  • Develop and manage DSO technical documentation specifically standards, guidelines and policies for use by all parties involved in designing, constructing, maintaining and operating the NEOM distribution network
  • Develop distribution electrical systems safety related rules, guidelines and documentation to implement Safety Management System.
  • Develop operational documentation to support Operations and Maintenance teams. This includes operational manuals for field staff.
  • Lead Take Over of network from Projects / External Contractors and review relevant documentation for successful Take Over of assets constructed by external parties for DSO.
  • Support, guide and influence other branches of NEOM to ensure effective engineering, design, safety and project management outcomes are realized.

Implementation and Analysis

  • Conduct market research and contribute to engineering research, innovation, design and the determination of cost- and risk-based recommendations for the ongoing functioning of the distribution grid
  • Ensure implementation of current and emerging grid technologies through inclusion of appropriate content in technical documentation and by provision of support across relevant engineering disciplines within NEOM
  • Provide engineering services support to DSO Projects through project initiation, development and delivery/implementation of projects
  • Identify opportunities for improvements in safety, system performance and costs, and develop supporting changes in engineering technical documentation
  • Provide support to other DSO activities as required.

Safety

  • Drive high level of safety performance by clearly articulating the requirements for safety in design and construction methodologies relating to the DSO network.

Risk Management

  • Contribute to delivery of the company’s engineering risk management plan in conjunction with other Energy branches, particularly as applicable to the management of risk within the technical documentation and other output of the Operational Standards business area.

Training and Development

  • Contribute to development of training requirements and technical skills of others within DSO/Energy.

       Manage Approved Suppliers

  • Establish policy and manage list of approved DSO equipment manufacturers and products.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of professional experience in electrical distribution grid infrastructure
  • Proven experience in the establishment and management of standards and policies for design, construction, operation and maintenance of electrical LV and MV automated distribution systems.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Postgraduate training in Power Engineering, Business, Asset or Project Management is preferred
