Overview

We are seeking a Hydroprocessing Catalyst Specialist to join our Catalyst Center of Excellence (CCoE).

 

CCoE is responsible for developing innovative catalysts to improve refining performance.

 

Your primary role is to conduct R&D research to develop and deploy novel catalyst formulations for petroleum refining and specifically, hydroprocessing technologies, by working closely with team members and external collaborators.

Key Responsibilities

As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

 

  • Plan, coordinate and lead catalyst R&D projects related to refining applications, more specifically hydrocracking and hydrotreating catalysts technologies, including:  idea generation, conceptualization, general planning of projects and tasks, interacting with stakeholders from Engineering and other key stakeholders.
  • Conduct R&D activities related to the development of new hydrocracking and hydrotreating catalysts, and improve existing ones.
  • Plan and execute lab activities and experiments to test and validate developed catalyst formulations.
  • Engage with multi-disciplinary teams to optimize the features of developed materials based on targeted performance metrics of the catalytic application being addressed.
  • Work closely with process engineers to understand requirements for new catalyst development.
  • Assess technical and business opportunities and identify potential areas for research and development, establishing strategy and tactics to achieve technical and business goals.
  • Utilize advanced and routine material and catalyst characterization tools and analytical techniques to gain insights about structure and activity relationships, and feed into superior catalyst design and optimization.
  • Manage laboratory activities and develop safe lab protocols to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • You must hold a Master Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry. PhD holders are preferred.
  • You should have a minimum of 10 years industrial experience, at least 3 of which is preferred to have been within an R&D organization.  
  • Research experience in hydrotreating and hydrocracking catalysts, as well as expertise in the technology challenges are required.
