Overview

We are seeking an experienced Flare & Relief Systems Engineer with extensive hands-on expertise in relief system design and flare network analysis to join our Operation Engineering Solutions Department (OESD).

 

OESD provides specialized and timely operations and process engineering support to all process technologies operated in both wholly-owned and affiliates’ refining and chemicals operating facilities, collectively known as Saudi Aramco Global Manufacturing.

 

As a Flare & Relief Systems Specialist Consultant, you will be responsible for developing, updating, and reviewing relief systems and flare networks, conducting rigorous analysis and calculations, performing technical and safety evaluation of projects and opportunities, and providing expert technical advisory support to facility management and staff.

Key Responsibilities

As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

 

  • Develop, review, and validate relief system calculations and documentation for existing and new facilities. Optimize system design to ensure safety while minimizing capital investment.
  • Conduct rigorous flare network analysis using advanced simulation software. Compare results with design basis, analyze gaps and deficiencies, and propose corrective actions.
  • Perform comprehensive technical and safety evaluations of projects and modifications using established engineering practices. Support decision-making processes for system upgrades.
  • Provide expert technical advisory support to facility management and staff on relief and flare systems, including relief device selection, installation details, and operational constraints.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure alignment of relief and flare system designs with facility objectives.
  • Validate and verify relief system calculations using established methods and industry standards. Ensure systems meet current and future operating conditions.
  • Support the development and maintenance of relief and flare system documentation, standards, and guidelines for the global manufacturing network.
  • Conduct training and coaching sessions for facility engineers and other users. Develop and update technical manuals and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

As a successful candidate you will hold a:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related specialization; an advanced degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years of hands-on relief and flare systems experience in refining or gas plants, with at least 10 years focused on system design and analysis
  • Demonstrated proficiency in relief and flare system design software (Aspen HYSYS, Flarenet, SuperPro) and relevant codes/standards
  • Proven track record of applying relief and flare system design principles to ensure facility safety and compliance, with specific examples of achievements
  • Extensive knowledge of international codes and standards related to Flare and Relief Systems
  • Experience in conducting relief system studies for complex and integrated facilities
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent presentation and reporting skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
