Overview

Description:

Aramco energizes the world economy.

Aramco occupies a unique position in the global energy industry. We are the world’s largest producer of hydrocarbons (oil and gas), with the lowest upstream carbon intensity of any major producer.

With our significant investment in technology and infrastructure, we strive to maximize the value of the energy we produce for the world along with a commitment to enhance Aramco’s value to society.

Headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and with offices around the world, we combine market discipline with a generations’ spanning view of the future, born of our nine decades experience as responsible stewards of the Kingdom’s vast hydrocarbon resources. This responsibility has driven us to deliver significant societal and economic benefits to not just the Kingdom, but also to a vast number of communities, economies, and countries that rely on the vital and reliable energy that we supply.

We are one of the most profitable companies in the world, as well as amongst the top five global companies by market capitalization.

Overview

We are seeking a Hydrocarbon Resource Petrophysicist to join Exploration Resource Assessment Department (ERAD).

The Exploration Resource Assessment Dept (ERAD) is responsible to meet the demand of hydrocarbon resources and obtain a sustainable amount of oil and gas recovery to replace the ongoing production. The Department is a fundamental start and end-point for the Exploration Organization, and creates both the framework within which exploration activities are planned and also the assessment of discovered volumes. We look forward to sustaining the Kingdom’s dominant oil and gas position by growing the proven resources, and increasing the exploration success rate. Furthermore, finding oil and gas resources through strategic exploration methods that integrate the best talent, optimal processes and technologies in a safe and cost-effective manner.

As a Hydrocarbon Resource Petrophysicist you will be responsible to determine reservoir properties by using petrophysical data and to provide input data for resource assessments.

Key Responsibilities

As a successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

  • Ensure the quality of well log data through a thorough review and validation and discussion with data providers.
  • Conduct advanced well log data analysis from various sources such as wireline, Logging While Drilling, Measurement While Drilling and cased hole logs.
  • Interpret the Petrophysical properties such as porosity, permeability, water saturation, net pay, Mineral composition, etc to understand the geological characteristics of the reservoir.
  • Integrate cores, logs, sampling, and testing data to identify and classify different rock types based on their Petrophysical properties to help in understanding the fluids distribution within the reservoir.
  • Conduct fluid distribution studies and determine contacts for low, best and high cases.
  • Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop an integrated understanding of the reservoir architecture, including its geometry, facies distribution, and diagenetic history etc. to create detailed Petrophysical model that integrate multiple datasets.
  • Apply the latest technology and efficient workflows to generate petrophysical work processes.
  • Assess uncertainties associated with Petrophysical interpretations and provide probabilistic estimates of hydrocarbon resources.
  • Collaborate with resource Petrophysicists, geoscientists and engineers to conduct accurate assessments.
  • Follow up well operations, propose and provide technical advice on data acquisition, coring, and testing operations.
  • Evaluate and normalize field wide petrophysical data.
  • Train, mentor and develop the young professionals.

Minimum Requirements

As a successful candidate you will hold a:

  • Bachelor Degree in Geosciences or related discipline (Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics, or other related science and engineering fields) from an accredited university. An advanced degree is a plus.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience with minimum 5 years of experience in reservoir characterization and resources assessment.
  • Proficiency in log interpretation, core analysis, and integration of multiple datasets (e.g., logs, cores, seismic).
  • Good understanding of rock properties, fluid behavior, and geological modeling concepts.
  • Knowledge of reserves estimation methodologies and Petroleum Resources Management System (PRMS guidelines.
  • Familiar with structural geology, sedimentary basin analysis, and stratigraphic concepts.
  • Ability to work with large datasets, perform quality control, and ensure data integrity.
  • Extensive experience in petrophysical evaluation, integrated reservoir studies and resource assessment.
  • Experience in Quality Control (QC) and validation of single and multi-well petrophysical evaluation interpretation results dedicated for 2D and 3D Pore Volume Assessment.
  • Ability to conduct sensitivity analysis on modelling parameters and uncertainties, and highlighting their impact on resource assessments.
  • Have good exposure to different petrophysical evaluation methods, such as basic and advance logs analysis, Mercury Injection Capillary Pressure (MICP) and saturation height functions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex technical issues and capability to prioritize tasks.
  • Skilled in using industry standard software such as Petrel, Techlog and Geolog.
