Overview
We are seeking an experienced Heater & Refractory Engineer to join our Global Manufacturing Excellence Team under Reliability Solutions Department (RSD)
RSD is a multi-disciplinary organization that provides engineering support to Saudi Aramco Global Manufacturing wholly owned and affiliates’ facilities (Refining, NGL Processing, and Petrochemicals). This includes reliability, inspection, corrosion management, static equipment, rotating equipment, electrical equipment, instrumentation and control support.
Your primary role as a Heater & Refractory Engineer is to provide technical support to operating facilities, projects, and the deployment of new technologies pertaining to heaters integrity. You will also conduct technical studies and analyses for heaters. You will work jointly with subject matter experts of various engineering disciplines. In addition, you will coach, and support the training and development of junior engineers within the team.
Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
- Conduct simple and complex analyses related to the design, specification, and applications engineering tasks associated with heaters & refractory.
- Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer fired equipment packages suitable for design needs for a reliable, cost-effective, and efficient operation.
- Select and implement appropriate designs for fired equipment.
- Perform field troubleshooting & technical assessment for heaters & refractory.
- Participate in major turnarounds and emergency plant shutdowns providing support to resolve heaters & refractory issues
- Provide technical support to maintenance organizations.
- Calculate remaining life of heater tubes and provide safe and optimized tube replacement schedule.
- Perform investigations of heaters & refractory failures to identify root cause(s) and to prevent reoccurrence of such failures.
- Developing repair procedures as required.
- Review detailed drawings and material specification as requested.
- Participate in HAZOP Studies review.
Minimum Requirements
As a successful candidate you will hold a:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar. An advanced degree is preferable.
- 15 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry’s downstream sector, with a minimum of 10 years working with heaters & refractory
- Able to demonstrate knowledge encompassing fired heaters, refractory, flares, incinerators, boilers, SCRs, and similar systems including auxiliaries, related to Refining, NGL, and petrochemical industries.
- Deep knowledge of various codes and standards including ASME Section VIII Divisions 1 & 2, ASME Section I, API-530, API-535, API-537, API-560, API-579, API-936 and NFPA standards, and others applicable to heaters and refractory.
- Able to demonstrate significant experience in inspection and failure analysis of heaters and refractory
- Deep understanding of remaining life calculations and fitness for service of fired heaters and refractory
- Significant understanding of refractory design, materials, application, and repair
