Overview
We are seeking a Technology Communications Specialist to join our Technology Outlook & Strategy Division within our Technology Strategy & Planning Department (TSPD).
TSPD’s mission is to provide high-impact leadership and support across the technology life-cycle, from strategy setting to value realization and sustainable growth, and partner with corporate and business stakeholders to integrate new technologies into the company’s strategies and investment plans.
Your primary role is to develop strategic insights and narratives that promote the Company’s R&D and technology portfolio, and ensure messaging aligns with national and international stakeholders, and the Company’s position on energy transition technologies. You will also be responsible for writing insightful reports on emerging and disruptive low-carbon energy and digital technologies, developing digital content and presentations, supporting both internal and external communication strategies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams across the company to deliver effective messaging on technology.
Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
- Develop the company’s technology narratives to enhance internal and external stakeholder’s engagement by crafting technical briefs, insights and key messaging on emerging low-carbon energy and digital technologies.
- Create engaging and accurate content in the form of press releases, blogs, reports, newsletters, and social media posts that explains the company’s R&D on low carbon energy technologies and sustainability initiatives.
- Develop critical content and technical talking points for the company’s senior executives for engagements in national and international events related to the global energy industry and the energy transition, and translate technical content into practical language for non-expert audiences.
- Organize and participate in national and international conferences, workshops, and public forums to promote the company’s position in R&D and low carbon energy technologies, and the energy transition.
- Collaborate with engineers, scientists, economists and project managers within the organization to ensure accurate and consistent messaging across all communications on technology narratives, and provide communication training and support to technical teams, ensuring they can effectively convey their work.
- Monitor industry trends, public opinion, and policy changes related to low carbon energy to stay ahead of new developments and tailor communication strategies accordingly, and provide insights and recommendations to leadership on how to align communication efforts with global market trends.
- Respond to critical requests in a timely and effective manner, and align communication efforts with broader marketing and public relations strategies, ensuring cohesive messaging and narratives across all Company’s platforms.
Minimum Requirements
- As the successful candidate you will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Affairs, Public Policy, Strategic Communications, Energy and Policy Journalism, or a related field. An advanced degree is preferred.
- You will have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in strategic communication and public affairs in a corporate environment in the energy or petrochemicals industry, management consulting or in a renowned international media outlet.
- You must be able to demonstrate strong analytical capacity, with the ability to address complex challenges and contexts, and good understanding of energy transition trends and the implications of geopolitics on global energy markets and the business.
- You must be a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of both the technical aspects of global energy markets, low carbon energy technologies, the energy transition, and effective communication strategies.
- You will demonstrate confidence with a high level of integrity and collaboration and ability to work with Senior Executives and deliver in a timely manner.
- You must be a hands-on self-starter, with an engaging “can do” attitude and astute social media user and content developer.
