Overview

We are seeking a Clastic Sedimentologist to join the Surface Geology Division.

 

The Surface Geology Division is responsible for capturing and documenting the stratigraphic knowledge across the entire Kingdom of Saudi Arabia exposed outcrops and the drilled shallow wells. The Division is also responsible for creating a link between surface and subsurface strata and reservoirs, contributing to the evaluation and the de-risking of clastic plays, through initiating and executing integrated surface to subsurface projects. 

 

As a Clastic Sedimentologist you will be responsible for documenting stratigraphic knowledge in Saudi Arabia from outcrops and shallow wells, Lead integrated surface-to-subsurface projects, and field trips for professionals/societies

Key Responsibilities

As a successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

  • Conduct detailed sedimentological investigations, draw conclusions, and make recommendations to support subsurface drilling
  • Support and mentoring co-workers in applying sedimentological principles to wider exploration and development issues. 
  • Develop and promote sedimentological best practices across the Surface Geology Division.
  • Provide 1D, 2D and 3D geological evaluation and mapping of facies to be provided for subsurface projects and de-risking projects. 
  • Provide local and regional distribution and mapping of strata to build clear understanding of operational drilling activities.

Minimum Requirements

As a successful candidate you will hold a:

  • A Master’s degree in Geology. A PhD in sedimentology is a plus.
  • A Minimum of 15 years of experience with focus on sedimentology. 
  • Integration of core data, well logs and surface geology.
  • Integration of all available Geological, Geophysical, Petrophysical and Sedimentological data to build a comprehensive surface to subsurface correlation.
