Overview

We are seeking a Senior Contract Advisor to join our Jazan Refinery Maintenance Dept. (JZRMD).

Jazan Refinery Maintenance Department is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all refinery assets, including process units, utility systems, and critical infrastructure. The department oversees preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities, utilizing advanced technologies and work management practices to maximize equipment uptime and minimize unplanned downtime. The team supports major turnarounds, manages contractor activities, and collaborates closely with inspection, corrosion, and engineering groups to maintain asset integrity. With a strong focus on safety, innovation, and operational excellence, the department plays a key role in sustaining the refinery’s production of high-quality fuels and petrochemicals, supporting both domestic needs and international markets.

Your primary role is to provide strategic contracting expertise and advisory support to ensure the effective, compliant, and cost-efficient management of maintenance-related contracts. This includes leading the development, negotiation, award, and administration of contracts for maintenance services, turnaround activities, specialized technical support, and infrastructure upkeep. You will collaborate closely with maintenance planners, project engineers, procurement teams, and legal advisors to ensure that contractual frameworks align with operational needs, Aramco standards, and corporate policies. The role involves risk assessment, scope definition, contractor evaluation, and performance monitoring to safeguard service quality, schedule adherence, and budget control.

Key Responsibilities

You will be required to perform the following:

Lead contract lifecycle management for maintenance-related scopes, including initiation, preparation, negotiation, award, and administration.
Provide strategic contractual advice to maintenance planners, project engineers, and department heads to ensure alignment between operational needs and contract deliverables.
Review and draft contractual documents, including statements of work (SOW), scope definitions, terms and conditions, and variations.
Ensure compliance with Aramco’s commercial policies, legal frameworks, and internal controls throughout the contract execution process.
Identify, assess, and mitigate contractual risks by working closely with Legal, Risk Management, and Finance teams.
Manage contractor performance, including handling of claims, disputes, and change orders, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on operations.
Support turnaround and shutdown planning by ensuring all contracted services are clearly defined, resourced, and aligned with schedule, cost, and safety (SCS) targets.
Collaborate with Procurement and Supply Chain teams to ensure timely award and mobilization of maintenance service providers.
Monitor budget adherence and cost control within assigned contracts, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Mentor and guide junior contract professionals, contributing to the development of a high-performing commercial team within JZRMD.

Minimum Requirements

A successful candidate would have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Contract Management, or a related field from a recognized and accredited university.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in contract management, procurement, or legal advisory roles, preferably within the oil and gas, refining, or energy sector.
  • Proven experience in managing complex maintenance-related contracts, including service agreements and turnaround contracts.
  • Excellent negotiation, risk management, and dispute resolution skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret technical, financial, and legal documents.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing multi-million-dollar portfolios and cross-functional stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and report-writing skills in English.
