Overview
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join Jazan Refinery Maintenance Dept (JZRMD).
Jazan Refinery Maintenance Department is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all refinery assets, including process units, utility systems, and critical infrastructure. The department oversees preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities, utilizing advanced technologies and work management practices to maximize equipment uptime and minimize unplanned downtime. The team supports major turnarounds, manages contractor activities, and collaborates closely with inspection, corrosion, and engineering groups to maintain asset integrity. With a strong focus on safety, innovation, and operational excellence, the department plays a key role in sustaining the refinery’s production of high-quality fuels and petrochemicals, supporting both domestic needs and international markets.
The primary role is to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all mechanical equipment and systems within the refinery. This includes developing and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, conducting root cause analysis on equipment failures, and supporting turnaround activities to minimize downtime. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize asset performance, ensures compliance with technical standards and safety protocols, and leverages advanced diagnostic tools to monitor equipment health. By integrating engineering best practices and continuous improvement initiatives, the role contributes directly to maintaining asset integrity, operational readiness, and long-term reliability of refinery operations.
Key Responsibilities
You will be required to perform the following:
- Lead mechanical integrity assessments and root cause analysis (RCA) of static equipment failures.
- Support the development and optimization of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies.
- Review and approve mechanical maintenance work orders, ensuring alignment with safety, technical standards, and operational needs.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including Inspection, Corrosion, and Process Engineering to address integrity and performance issues.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians, supporting workforce development and knowledge transfer.
- Participate in major turnaround planning and execution, ensuring mechanical readiness and compliance.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and engineering software to monitor equipment condition and performance trends.
- Ensure compliance with Aramco standards, international codes (e.g., ASME, API), and asset integrity management systems.
Minimum Requirements
A successful candidate would have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent international certification.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in mechanical, rotating, and static equipment within the oil & gas, refining, or petrochemical industry, with a significant portion in a senior or lead engineering role, with expertise in the following areas:
Reliability-Centered Maintenance implementing systematic methodologies to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
Risked Based Maintenance- applying risk assessment techniques to optimize maintenance strategies.
Preventive and Predictive Maintenance- utilizing data-driven approaches to minimize unplanned downtime and improve asset healthiness.
Spare parts and materials procurement strategies- developing and executing effective procurement plans to ensure the availability of critical spare parts and materials
Maintenance Planning, Scheduling and work prioritization- ensuring efficient resources allocation and execution of maintenance tasks
Maintenance budgeting and cost control- developing and managing maintenance budgets to optimize spending while maintaining operational efficiency.
Field maintenance practices- executing on-site maintenances activities in compliance with industry standards and safety protocols.
- Strong knowledge of API, ASME, and NBIC standards, particularly as they apply to static equipment integrity.
- Demonstrated experience in RBI, FFS (Fitness-for-Service) assessments, IOWs, and mechanical integrity programs.
- Proficiency in using engineering analysis tools.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills with the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Willingness to work in a dynamic, multicultural team environment and support operational excellence initiatives.
- Proficiency in English, with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
